The talk I gave to the Danish Felters went well and it will be lovely to see them all again in July in Denmark. (Details later) Next year will be a very busy exhibiting year as I will have the pieces for Denmark and work for the exhibition here in Newark with The Group. I will post al the details soon.

The work on the new space is gaining pace and we are painting the floor in the warehouse bit . I have tables and chairs waiting for delivery. more importantly I have been to Ikea for storage and no I didn’t come back with everything but showed great restraint!

This is the newsletter we are sending out and I thought I would post it here too.

Just to keep you updated with what’s going on here at Craftynotions. We’ve been very busy finding new things, designing new things and making new things!

Firstly, to let you know that we have our annual Open Weekend on July 4th and 5th. As usual teas and coffees etc are being done for us by Newark MS Group. We will be having loads of demonstrations offered by Leonie Pujol of QVC and magazine fame, but she’s doing a textile degree so is keen and eager to use our textiley things. Our good friend Pat Grant will be with us on the Sunday as her grandchild is getting married on the Saturday. We’ve got Lincolnshire Spinners and Weavers coming with their spinning wheels and all their expertise so you may be able to learn how to drop a spindle or even have a go on a wheel. And of course I’ll be doing rolling demos on some of our new things.

We will also have exhibitions from The Group. This is a gang of pals who meet up regularly, discuss the world, discuss needlework, felting, quilting, projects and ongoing themes and produce work for exhibitions. There will also be exhibitions of my own work.

As you know we’ll have lots of bargains, lots of one-offs, and hopefully lots of fun and ideas to be shared.

You’ll also be pleased to know that we’ve found lots more chairs this year, but we are really hoping that it doesn’t rain as much as it did last year.

If you can’t make it to the Open Day then you might be interested to know that I am teaching at Rufford Craft Centre. The first on Sunday 6th September which is Friendly Plastics for Embroiders and on Sunday 6 December which is Floral Felting for Embroiderers.

Just had the information about the exhibition at Macclesfield museum. It is a viewing of the embroidery collection of Diana Springall. It starts from April 11th and runs to the July 4th. There are over 50 British embroiderers represented, including me!

There is a book called An Embroiderer’s Eye, which is £8.95 with £2 P&P from the museum. The address of which is The Macclesfield Museums Trust, Park Lane, Macclesfield, Cheshire, SK11 6TJ. To quote from the information I have received…
“Over 50 works are illustrated in colour from Dianna Springall’s unrivaled collection of contemporary embroidery. A brief text describes each work and provides biographical information about the artist.”

I can’t tell you the pleasure that I got when Diana initially chose to collect my work and the immense privilege it is to have it displayed in the exhibition.
